How long has your family been growing apples? Since 1889.
How long have you been involved in growing apples? Life time – 50 plus years.
What is your main variety? Pink Lady and selections.
Which variety do you prefer to grow, and why? Sundowner – very grower friendly tree and apple to produce.
What was your first job? Working on a Mixed farm in the Mid-North of SA.
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? To be the Woolworths Chief Apple Buyer, so I could give the Lenswood Co-op Marketing Manager more grief!!
What’s the best advice you could give someone starting up in this business? You have to really, really want to be a producer of fresh produce.
What's the best thing about the industry? The life experiences it has given me.
My earliest memory... Yesterday!!
At school I... Enjoyed the mateship far more than being a scholar.
Three things people might not know about me... That I’m a modern new aged man, a wiz in the kitchen (as long as I stay out), and I’m a lawn bowls genius!
Favourite movie? Pretty Woman.
Favourite actor / actress? Gene Hackman / Julia Roberts.
Favourite musician / singer / band? Rod Stewart / The Beatles.
Favourite food? Fish.
When I was a child, I wanted... A brand new 24” bike.
The hardest thing I have ever done was... To speak at my father-in-law’s funeral.
The best decision I ever made was ... To marry my wife, Helen.
Favourite book? For The Term of His Natural Life.
Favourite TV show? Landline – ABC.
I relax by... Watching a DVD.
Five people, living or dead, that I’d like to invite to dinner are... John, Paul, George, Ringo and Julia Roberts.
Favourite football team? Adelaide Crows and Norwood.
What’s your dream holiday? Around Australia with a camper trailer, 4WD, Helen and myself.
My guiltiest pleasure is... Eating potato chips.
What really irritates me is... Selfishness.
